A research project led by Ms. Michika Jogan, a first-year master’s student in the Global Sustainability Science Program, has been selected for the FY2026 Regional Fieldwork Research Grant for Students offered by the University Consortium Toyama.
Together with her collaborators, Ms. Jogan is conducting research on Lindera umbellata, a shrub species inhabiting the understory of cool-temperate forests, focusing on its sustainable use as a non-timber forest product and the evaluation of its bioactive compounds.
This research is expected to contribute to balancing the sustainable use and conservation of natural resources in Toga Village, Nanto City, Toyama Prefecture. The outcomes of the project are highly anticipated.
